Pacific Arctic Group (PAG) Secretariat Office

Jacqueline Grebmeier, University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science

The Pacific Arctic Group (PAG) is a group of institutes and individuals having a Pacific perspective on Arctic science. Originally organized under the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC), the now independent PAG has as its mission to serve as a Pacific Arctic regional partnership to plan, coordinate, and collaborate on science activities of mutual interest. The four PAG principle science themes are climate, contaminants, human dimensions and structure and function of Arctic ecosystems. The current proposal is to support efforts to maintain the PAG Secretariat Office at the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory/UMCES through two months of technical support under the supervision of PI Grebmeier, the newly elected Chair of the PAG. The support staff will assist PI Grebmeier in management of the PAG Secretariat through maintaining a PAG list server of participants, organizing biannual PAG international meetings, and updating and maintaining a PAG website. Additional funds are also requested for partial payment of color printing of the Pacific Arctic Region Synthesis book to be published by Springer during this proposal performance period.
