Accessing and Visualizing Satellite Data for Use by Fisheries Mangers in the Northeast Large Marine Ecosystem

Riley Young-Morse – Gulf of Maine Research Institute

The objective of this project is to assess, understand and document the current structure and accessibility of data sets available through the National Climate Data Center/Climate Data Record (NCDC/CDR) program that are relevant to fisheries and other marine resource issues. Standards-based web services will be developed to visualize maps of the sea surface temperature (SST) and SST anomaly for a selected time period and to look at the SST data at the location of any of the oceanographic buoys operated by NERACOOS (The Northeastern Regional Association of Coastal and Ocean Observing Systems).  The data will be visualized through products available on the website.
